Khanyisa Mayo on Mamelodi Sundowns’ Radar
Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly interested in signing Cape Town City striker, Khanyisa Mayo.
Following the departure of forward Cassius Mailula in July, as well as due to the number of injuries currently plaguing their top attackers, the reigning Premier Soccer League champions are looking to bring in a fresh face to man the sharp end of the pitch.
As such, recent reports indicate that Sundowns are in the process of trying to recruit Mayo, who is the son of Bafana Bafana legend, Patrick Mayo.
“Khanyisa is seen as a good player to also fill the gap left by Cassius Mailula,” one source divulged to a local media outlet on Wednesday, 6 September. “The problem is that the boy has extended his contract with Cape Town City and he won’t come cheap.”
Speaking to another outlet the following day, a second source added: “Time is running out for the team. They want to have an extra striker as soon as possible … It will all depend on the money involved and the availability from the player’s teams, but also the financial sense of it all.”
Will the 25-year-old find himself playing for Mamelodi Sundowns in the near future, or will he stick with Cape Town City? As always, watch this space!
